We are all fucked. The vote was to overturn a Obama act that keeps the internet open and "free". Basically ISP will now be able to charge you for visiting certain websites, can throttle speed of websites of there choosing, basically rule over and whore out the internet.
You missed your chance. Protest has been going on for MONTHS. The vote passed. Its over. When exactly does this start? This is actually something people should really protest. Another freedom down the drain. Give me your money and let me track what you do
You sound like a wealthy older person that barely uses the internet. I dont mean that in a name calling way, its just I dont think you understand the dramatic effect this will have on everyone. The trickle down is huge. Not to mention the complete and udder datamining that will begin on customers/users. (or should I say get worse)Until ISP's actually do this let's refrain from going into panic mode. Comcast/Xfinity and Verizon FIOS compete against each other. I have triple play with FIOS including all the premium channels HBO/Epix/Starz/Showtime and pay $251 a month. Do you really think FIOS wants to lose me as a customer and return to Xfinity. I used to be a Comcast customer. I will grant you that FIOS offers no deals to retain me as a customer but that could just be in the geographic area I live in. Say you are in NYC and have three options for an ISP. Now if all three of the ISP's make a handshake agreement to squeeze customers it will happen. It's still a competitive business with people cutting cords. I think providers do want to eliminate bandwidth pigs. Gamers and downloaders who use tremendous amounts of the pipe. Also in the future you can get a different administration who can overturn this. They can appoint a new FCC commissioner and congress can vote to repeal the law.
